Lexeme provides a flexible, personalised translation service from French into English for local and international businesses, associations and translation agencies.
This service includes translation, full editing and proofreading, as well as a follow-up consultation after delivery to discuss any final tweaks or changes you feel may be necessary.
I can also offer editing and proofreading as stand-alone services (working with a text you’ve already had written or translated by someone else), as well as copywriting original material from scratch.

Translation:
You need good quality, compelling English content.
My job is to take your French source material and to craft a professional translation, tailored to your target audience.
This is a professional service which involves much more than speaking two languages or having a good dictionary!
A professional translator will:
- fully understand the source (French) text, all its nuances and context
- carry out the necessary research to find the right terminology for the field
- convey the same message, in an appropriate register and style, in the target language (English)
I have the experience, skills, resources and contacts to do all that.
I’ll find the perfect words and just the right tone for your document.
The resulting text will sound completely natural, as if it had been written directly in English, and your readers will never even suspect the document has been translated!
I translate:
- Press releases
- Websites
- Print and online articles
- In-house communication materials
- Newsletters
- Letters and emails
- Brochures and leaflets
- Company presentations and reports
- Training materials, user guides
- Tourist guides, maps, menus
- And much more!
I work with the usual office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc), as well as Acrobat (PDF), Photoshop and InDesign files.
I also use SDL Trados Studio and Termbase: specialist translation memory and terminology management software. This helps with consistency and glossary building for long-term projects.
I specialise in the following fields:
- Environment and sustainability
- Photography and the visual arts
- Tourism, especially “green” or nature-based tourism
- Culture and events
- + all your corporate or editorial documents
I have also extensive translation experience in general business and management issues, human resources and marketing.
Whatever your field, feel free to get in touch to discuss your project. Even if it doesn’t fall into one of my own areas of expertise, I can probably help you find a specialist from my network of translator colleagues.

Editing:
Editing is the next stage in the translation process. It involves a thorough review of the translated document for accuracy, style, punctuation, grammar, potential cultural issues, consistency, readability, etc.
Of course, editing is included in my standard translation service, to ensure the quality of the final document I deliver to you.
However, I’m also available to edit any text you’ve already had translated by someone else (another translator, company employee, etc.).

Proofreading:
Proofreading means reading through the English text alone, to correct any outstanding grammar, spelling or stylistic errors. It is the final, integral stage of the translation process, before delivery of the finished document.
For a supplement, I can ask a second native speaker to carry out this final stage for even greater quality control.
Again, I can proofread any English texts you’ve already had produced by someone else.
